Full definition

Prompts can be questions, tasks, or multi-turn context. In AI visibility work, “prompt testing” means asking models how they recommend products or explain topics and recording which brands appear, with what caveats and citations.

Unbranded prompts reveal category defaults; branded prompts test association accuracy; constrained prompts (budget, stack, city, specialty) stress-test whether models can match fit rather than logo gravity alone.

Prompts are measurement and product-design tools, not a substitute for public web signals that grounding systems retrieve. See Share of Voice, Prompt Battery, and AI Visibility.
