Full definition
When people discover a brand in chat answers, social, PR, or ads, they often later type the brand name into classic search. Analysts estimate lift by comparing branded query trends before and after campaigns or visibility changes, controlling for seasonality where possible.
Lift is an indirect GEO outcome: even when AI answers are zero-click, brand awareness can show up as higher branded organic or paid search demand. Attribution is imperfect because many stimuli can move branded volume at once.
Pair branded-search monitoring with AI mention tracking rather than treating either metric alone as proof of causation. See AI Referral Traffic, View-Through Brand, and Share of Voice.
