Full definition

Presence alone is incomplete: a model may name a product while warning about pricing, support, or reliability. Analysts label answer excerpts manually or with classifiers, then summarize sentiment mix for a prompt set.

Sentiment is subjective and model-dependent. Prefer rubrics (praise, caution, criticism, factual-only) over single polarity scores when decisions matter. Track factual errors separately from tone.

GEO work should correct false negatives in public sources that models echo, not only chase more mentions. See Fact Consistency, Competitive Displacement, and Share of Voice.

Example

Two competitors appear equally often for “best payroll for startups,” but one is repeatedly described as “expensive for small teams,” lowering effective recommendation quality.
