Gems in Google’s Gemini product are user- or team-defined assistants: fixed instructions, preferred tone, and sometimes attached files or context for a recurring task (research, writing, coding). Conceptually they parallel Custom GPTs on ChatGPT.
Like other specialized assistants, Gems can improve consistency for a workflow without changing the underlying foundation model. Brand visibility in general Gemini or Search answers is still driven by public web and Search signals, not by any single Gem configuration.
