This term is part of the full AI search glossary.

Full definition

An entity is a uniquely identifiable thing: a company, person, product, or concept. Entity SEO improves consistency of name, description, logos, sameAs profiles, and structured data so machines can reconcile mentions across the web with the same organization or product.

In AI search, entity clarity helps models attribute claims correctly and prefer sources that match a known brand graph. Conflicting NAP data, vague About copy, or missing Organization schema make disambiguation harder.

Entity SEO is broader than keyword density; it includes knowledge-graph style signals, authoritative citations, and cross-platform identity. See Knowledge Graph and AI Visibility.

Example

A company uses the same legal name on its site, Wikipedia (if applicable), LinkedIn, and Organization JSON-LD sameAs links so AI systems can treat those profiles as one entity.
