Full definition

When public sources disagree about what a company does or what it is called, search engines and language models may under-weight or confuse the brand. Entity consistency reduces that friction by aligning About copy, schema, directories, and third-party profiles.

Typical friction points include legal name versus product brand, outdated category claims after a pivot, conflicting addresses across maps and the website, and sameAs links that point at abandoned social profiles.

It is a practical subset of entity SEO: not only having entity signals, but keeping them non-contradictory over time as offerings change. See Entity SEO, NAP Consistency, and sameAs.
