Full definition

Vendors and internal models approximate authority from backlinks, brand mentions, entity graph signals, traffic, or review ecosystems. Names and scales differ; none is an official Google or OpenAI ranking score you can look up in Search Console.

Use authority scores comparatively within a competitive set and as a trend, not as a precise scientific constant. Investigate inputs when the score moves—did coverage, links, or unlinked mentions change?

Authority supports both classic SEO and AI citation likelihood when paired with accurate, citable content. See EEAT, Third-Party Corroboration, and Entity SEO.
