Full definition

Site owners commonly see Bytespider in access logs and manage it with User-agent: Bytespider rules in robots.txt. Public first-party documentation is less centralized than for OpenAI or Google crawlers, so operators should verify behavior in logs after policy changes.

Allowing or blocking Bytespider is a participation and traffic decision. Blocking it does not affect GPTBot, ClaudeBot, or Googlebot—each agent needs its own rules.

Treat Bytespider like other training-oriented AI crawlers when designing AI training opt-out policy. See AI Crawler, AI Training Opt-Out, and Disallow Directive.

Example

User-agent: Bytespider
Disallow: /
