Full definition

Site owners control GPTBot with robots.txt User-agent: GPTBot groups. It is distinct from ChatGPT-User (live conversation fetches) and OAI-SearchBot (search-oriented crawling). Blocking one token does not automatically block the others.

Allowing GPTBot is a common AI-visibility choice for public marketing and documentation; blocking is reasonable for licensing constraints or deliberate content-control policy. robots.txt preferences do not erase prior training snapshots or third-party mirrors.

Confirm current spelling, purpose, and IP guidance against OpenAI’s official bot documentation when updating policy. See AI Crawler and robots.txt.
