It is not the same as Googlebot, which primarily supports classic Search crawling and ranking. Publishers may allow Googlebot for Search while configuring Google-Extended separately for generative AI uses, according to Google’s published product-token guidance.
Misconfiguring User-agent: * can unintentionally affect both Search and AI-related access. Keep Googlebot and Google-Extended groups explicit when policy differs.
