Crawlers & botsAI search glossary

This term is part of the full AI search glossary.

Full definition

Applebot fetches public pages to support Apple system search and related discovery features. Apple documents how to identify the crawler and how robots.txt applies. Applebot-Extended is a related product token used to express preferences about Apple Intelligence and generative features, and should not be treated as identical to classic Applebot.

Operators who care about Safari/search discovery keep Applebot policy intentional, separate from training opt-outs aimed only at generative features.

See Googlebot, Google-Extended, and AI Training Opt-Out for parallel “search vs generative” control patterns.
