Full definition
Descriptive anchors (“entity SEO checklist”) communicate better than generic “click here.” Over-optimized exact-match anchors in bulk, especially in unnatural patterns, can look manipulative; natural variation is healthier.
Internal anchors are largely under the site owner’s control and should map cleanly to real page topics. External anchors are chosen by other publishers and reflect how the web describes you.
Clear anchors improve accessibility and help retrieval systems associate linked URLs with concepts in surrounding text. See Internal Linking and Content Cluster.
